Santa names Macy’s inaugural Chief Ornament Officer

Hannah Strickland, a 9-year-old social media star who won the hearts of many last year with her exuberant reaction to shopping at her local Macy's Holiday Lane, was named Macy's inaugural Chief Ornament Officer (COO).
As COO, Hannah’s duties include spreading festive cheer, adding sparkle and excitement to the season, inspiring new additions to your tree, and of course, creating a coveted curation of decorations and gifts.

On September 26th, she kicked off the holiday season at Macy's flagship store in New York City with a ribbon cutting, opening Holiday Lane for her fellow Christmas lovers.
Hannah's first act in her official capacity: selecting her five favorite ornaments of 2025.
Christmas Stitch: “Stitch is always adorable but dressed up for Christmas is even more adorable!”
Mouse and Letter: “I love the mouse because it’s very cute and I love writing letters to Santa.”
Swarovski Bear: “I love bears and this one has Holden skates and it’s sparkly so I love it even more.”
Holiday Present: “I love gold so this one is so beautiful and exciting.”

"Hannah's joyful love of Christmas ornaments, her infectious holiday spirit, and the way she inspires so many with her wonder and cheer embody everything Holiday Lane represents," said Holly Glazer, vice president of Macy's home department. “She reminds us all that the most wonderful time of the year truly begins at Macy’s.”
Santa himself took a break from his busy holiday preparations at the North Pole and surprised her at the grand opening of Holiday Lane, personally bestowing Hannah with the title. Needless to say, Hannah was overjoyed and thrilled to meet one of her heroes.

During the holiday season, Macy's opens Holiday Lane, transforming the 9th floor into an immersive festive marketplace with more than 200,000 (yes, 200k) ornaments. The must-visit experience also features candy cane walls, 27 decorated Christmas trees (no two are the same), Nutcrackers both big and small, sweet and savory treats, plus every decor you can imagine: think classic snow globes to hipster Santas.

Hannah and her family also toured Macy's New York flagship in Herald Square, the same one featured in Miracle on 34th Street, saw the famous Big Piano from the movie Big, and met her favorite characters Gabby from "Gabby's Dollhouse" and Toys “R” Us' Geoffrey.
